Recently, I encountered a problem that Outlook 2010 can't synchronize with my HTC Touch Pro 2 (Windows Mobile 6.5). While connect the device and do a ActiveSync, Outlook will have lots of empty appointments (around 3000 to 4000) at present schedule and Outlook.exe occupies almost all of CPU time.
Here is my setup:
- Windows 7 with all latest update
- Outlook 2010
- I've associated my phone to Google Sync, the synchronization between Google and my phone is okay
After a long and frustrated struggle, root cause was still not found and I wanted to reset all settings. Reason to do this is because there's fully appointment backup in Google Calendar, I won't be afraid lost personal data.
So before you process following workaround, please do backup you Outlook pst file and export all Google settings to your desktop:
- Hard Reset the phone (press Send & End & Power keys, and then press Volume Up)
- Setup a new Outlook profile, and set it to default profile
- Install Google Calendar Sync, set 1 way sync (from Google to your Outlook)
- Once all appointments are downloaded, now you can sync with you phone.
All appointments will be restored to your phone
